Hi, my name is Michael. I’m a twenty-five year old engineer living in New Jersey, the armpit of America. I did meet my fiancé here, so It can’t be all bad.Since graduating from college and accepting my first job I’ve been very busy learning the ins and outs of personal finance. I’ve had ups and downs so far but I have little to complain about. My fiancé and I gross around $124,000 together.

I’m often surprised at how fast my money goes each month.

We live together in a one bedroom apartment while we save for retirement and a down payment for a house. We both drive gas efficient cars that are nearly paid off. We also have over $35,000 in student loans.

This blog is an open window into my financial life. I’ll document all the gritty details of my financial world as well as the often difficult and sometimes painful decisions made along the way. While I want to be as open as possible to my readers, I will obscure personally identifiable details in order to protect those in my life who are a part of my financial world whether they know it or not.
